I had a lot of work this weekend so I stayed in to do it both weekend nights. Perhaps many years from now when I’m older, I’ll regret always foregoing Halloween and never dressing up (except for a brief stint two years ago when a friend and I went all-out on a bloody pirate costume; I suspect that one costume took it out of me for the rest of my youth), but for now that sort of thing just doesn’t interest me. Though I do very much enjoy seeing a truly original and funny/cynical costume…

So instead of going out, I saw “Silence of the Lambs” again. It’s one of my favorite movies–Jodie Foster’s face is absolutely striking and Anthony Hopkins did a magnificent job. I read the books way before I ever saw the movies so I appreciate the love story. A lot of people find the scene at the end of “Hannibal” (the book) disturbing, but I find it oddly comforting–that two characters with “unusual” and disturbing pasts could resolve their history and find solace together, even if the process seems revolting.
